If you browse the subject information pages you will see some examples of the super curricular opportunities. We also offer an extensive extracurricular programme.
With access to several courts and ample playing fields, students are able to take part informally and formally in a range of sporting activities. These will include five-a-side football competitions and rounders matches. Available alongside this within the sporting component of our enrichment programme will also be netball and tai chi.
For those students particularly interested in pursuing their academic development, philosophy and reading clubs are available bi-weekly.
Students are also encouraged to take part in either the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme or Duke of Edinburgh Gold in order to ensure they engage in off-site activities, which challenge and develop their character.
We run a whole sixth form cultural experience trip abroad once a year, which is open to all students interested in attending from both Year 12 and Year 13.
This year students have taken it upon themselves to raise money for multiple charitable causes via bake sales, raffles and other fundraising events. Raising money and taking an organisational role in events such as the Leaver’s Ball is an essential part of many students’ experience and we expect all our learners to be not only supportive of, but also directly involved in, fundraising projects.
The college puts on a series of events throughout the year including music concerts and a summer theatre production. Students are also encouraged to attend lectures both at the college and in the wider community.
The college offers students the opportunity to take an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). The EPQ enables you to develop and demonstrate a wide range of skills, including decision-making, problem-solving, using initiative, research planning, research methodologies, critical-thinking, analysis, synthesis, evaluation and presentation; all of which universities and employers value highly. Students in Y12 can also choose to take part in a work experience placement.
